AIME Initiative: Regulatory Best Practice

• Continued discussions at AIME’s quarterly meeting with PhonepayPlus on 17th Jan
• PhonepayPlus to present Regulatory Process schematic at next AIME members’ GM
• 2011 topics to be discussed include Tribunal process, sanctions, compliance advice, marketing opt in

AIME Initiative: Value Added Services (VAS)

• After being requested in December, Industry PRS Training has been rolled out to market
  
• 1st training day of 28th Feb now fully booked
• Next training day to be booked in March and filling fast

 AIME Forum: Interactive Broadcast

• Voice Short Code sub group met 25th Jan 
  
  • Discussed opportunity of Voice Short Codes in Interactive Broadcast
  • Business case being formed and meeting being sought with Ofcom
• Next bi-annual IBF meeting Spring 2011
• 2011 topics for forum include research on voter habits re SMS voting reintroduction, Voice Short Codes, Broadcaster Auditing Process, VOIP, Red Button & Tariff Transparency

 AIME Forum: Fixed Line 

• Forum members currently working on producing Best Practice Guide for Fixed Line Services
• Business case developed for higher rate drop charges for Charity use
• Letter written to Ofcom requesting additional information on PRS Bad Debt Methodology
• Next meeting Feb 2011
• 2011 agenda items include higher rate tariffs; drop charges  for Charities; Fixed Line Best Practice Guide;  Ofcom NTS Consultation

AIME Forum: Interactive Services for Charities

• AIME working with technology partners to build online forum to provide information on Interactive Services to Charities
• Next forum meeting to be held Feb 9th 2011
• 2011 agenda items include research of smaller charities' needs, providing education & information on Interactive Services to the charity sectors, e.g. online forums, case studies

AIME Forum: Payforit Research

• AIME Payforit Research working group met 17th Jan to discuss analysis of research in to drop off rates for Payforit Services
• Group considering ways to increase service compliance, especially customer care
• MNOs to consider Payforit in other environments e.g. in-app payments and gambling
• Further drop off analysis and A/B testing to be undertaken in February
• Consumer help guide to Payforit www.payforit.info produced by ImpulsePay to be launched in association with AIME
• Next working group meeting to be held in March – any promoters wishing to attend please contact zoe@aimelink.org

AIME Forum: Participation TV (Psychic & Chat Teleshopping)

• Draft  Best Practice Guide discussed on conference call 19th Jan and changes agreed
• Guidance Issued by Ofcom of PTV Chat standard being incorporated into guide
• AIME setting meeting with Ofcom in Feb to seek endorsement of the guide

Industry Group: Mobile Commerce Joint Industry Committee (MCJIC)

• Priorites now set for 2011 and include:
  
  • Research, Best Practice and Technical Standards, Education Programme, Events and Communications Support
    
  • Next meeting February 2011

Industry Research: Customer Service Survey

• AIME conducting random checks on industry customer service numbers
• First set of calls completed and a second tranche of calls now underway
• Results will be circulated to members shortly

Industry Issue: Mobile Fraud and Security

• Your Board has asked the Executive to look at ways of assisting members with intelligence and support to prevent fraud
• With increased opportunity for in-app billing, it is important to limit any potential for fraud

Regulatory Update

• Ofcom Quarterly meeting
  
  • Business case for Higher Rate PRS drop charges for Charity use discussed
  • BT Bad Debt consultation delayed and will be published shortly; AIME questions will be addressed in consultation
  • Ofcom supportive of closer working with industry through AIME Best Practice Guides
• PhonepayPlus Quarterly Meeting
  
  • 12th Code approved by EU and now with PhonepayPlus Board for March Publication
  • Sanctions Guide being rewritten
  • PhonepayPlus considering guidance around e-wallets
  • CCP process to become fully transparent; CCP process schematic published
• AIME workshop with PhonepayPlus - Registration Scheme – 12th Jan
  • Agreement that L1 may retain data ownership and customer care responsibility, or may delegate to L2; with  L1 able to take back responsibility
  • If L2 delegated with permission to change data, both parties will be notified of the original data entry and any change
    
    • AIME exploring security issues around both industry and PhonepayPlus staff access to the data
    • Operating costs of £280K over 5 years; expected registration fees £100 + VAT, and annual renewal charge
    • Pre-registration will take place in mid-2011 and database to go live in late 2011 to coincide with new Code
• Ofcom publish Guidance on the advertising of telecommunications-based PTV chat services  – 28th Jan 
• PhonepayPlus publish update on Industry Registration Scheme – 7th Jan
• Ofcom Broadcasting Code Update - Commercial references in television programming – 20th Dec

ComReg – Premium Rate Services Code of Practice

• AIME writing to Comreg to broadly support the response of the IPPSA
• AIME also encouraging members to write to the EU Commission with concerns
• Deadline extended until 7th Feb 2011

Ofcom – Simplifying Non Geographic Numbers

• AIME will be forming a working group to formulate a response
• Deadline 10th March 2011
