MOBILE TV TURN-OFF: Results from a survey of 2,000 employed European consumers by Canalysys make grim reading for operators pinning their hopes on mobile TV. Half of the consumers from France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the U.K. who took part in the survey had no interest in watching any kind of mobile TV. There was a silver lining to this handheld cloud as three distinct market segments had a more favourable view of the service. Pay-TV subscribers (54 percent), users spending more than EUR60 per month on mobile (66 percent) and frequent MySpace (73 percent) and YouTube (70 percent) offered the market some hope. If you are wondering where to launch your service, then Spain is the place to do it as 66 percent of respondents were interested in mobile TV.
